Mrs. April Eidson is the professional school counselor at CCES. She has 10 years of experience as an elementary and middle school counselor. Mrs. Eidson earned her graduate degree from Georgia State University in School Counseling in 2005. She has worked for the Crawford County School District for 9 years.
Our CCES guidance counselor focuses on the areas of academics, personal/social skills and careers. The school counselor works with students both individually and in groups to help them acquire the knowledge and skills needed for success in school and in life.
Individual counseling is available to all students to discuss and problem-solve academic, personal or social issues.
Small Group Counseling
Students may attend small group counseling with parent permission. Topics may include: Behavior or Anger Management, Social Skills/Friendship, Decision-Making
Counselor conducts monthly lessons in each classroom. Guidance topics may include: Listening Skills, Study Skills, Bullying Prevention, Conflict Resolution, Decision Making, Friendship, Respect, Responsibility, Cooperation, and Career Awareness
· Notify and/or consult with parents regarding students’ academic or behavior concerns.
· Provide information about community resources.
· Offer interpretation of standardized test scores.
· Provide resource information on topics such as ADD or ADHD, discipline, study skills, anxiety, grief, etc.
How do students see the counselor?
¨ Students may tell their teacher they would like to see the counselor.
¨ Parents can request the counselor meet with their child.
¨ Teachers, administrators or other staff members may refer students to the counselor.
