My name is Gretchen Stone and I am a native of West Virginia. After graduating from high school in 1995, I moved to Macon, GA. I began my college career at macon State College, then went on to Georgia College & State University where I earned my Bachelor's degree in elementary education. I began my teaching career here in Crawford County Elementary in 1999. After teaching for 10 years, I returned to school and earned a Master's degree in Reading & Literacy and then worked to complete a 6 year Specialist (Ed.S) degree in teacher leadership from Walden University.
I have been teaching for 16 years. I married to my high school sweetheart in 1998 and together we now have three great children that are 13, 10, and 7. I love teaching, spending time with my family, going to church, all things pumpkin, and coffee!
It is a joy to be a first grade teacher! It is such a magical year in elementary school. I love watching my students light up when things "click" and they figure things out on their own. Education is not only a profession, it is a privilege. I take my job as an educator very seriously; it is my goal to make your child the best first grader they can be and prepare them; not only for second grade, but for their future. I have a great love for books and try hard to ignite that same passion in my students. I know that with effort, time, consistency, and collaboration with parents, my students will become life long learners.
