I was a third grade teacher for twelve years. This year begins my thirteenth year, and I am now a first grade teacher.

My educational philosophy:

Education is not just a job. Education is a lifestyle. I nurture my students. I invest in my students. I encourage my students. I set high expectations for my students. I teach my students about the world. I dream with my students. I set goals with my students. I believe that my students will learn more in an environment that is stimulating, interesting, and evolving to meet their needs. My students have different learning styles and it is my goal to meet their needs as early learners.

Personal:

I moved to Crawford County during second grade as a child.  I graduated in 1993 from Crawford County Comprehensive High School.

I have been  married to Johnny Rogers for twenty-one years.  We have three beautiful children: Leighanna Hope (19), JohnDavid Ashley (15), and MacKenzie Faith (13).  I have a toy poodle named Truffles Gigi, a yorkie named Roger Rogers, a mutt mutt named Asher, and a Pyrenees names Iggy. I attend Lighthouse Baptist Church in Macon. I help in children's church and Girls in Action. I love candles and I collect bird cages, but have no interest in having a bird. I enjoy spending time with my family camping and geocaching. My husband persuades me to ride on his Harley with him every once in a while. I love Fall and snuggling up with a blanket and a good book when I have free time. I also enjoy writing poetry. Here is a sample for you to enjoy.

Keturah's  Looking-Glass

Desire and curiosity drew me in

Steep stairs to climb

Stumbling blind

A foothold did I gain when I saw through new eyes

I dusted off the layers

Upon a closer look did I see

A reflection of me

I held it closer

Who was this girl

Determination  to overcome

A desire to be important

- to contribute

I proceeded unknowing

Skepticism showing

Living but life's dream
