I attended Piedmont College in Demorest, Georgia for the first two years of my college career.  Piedmont is a small liberal arts school in the north Georgia mountains; the years I spent there are very fondly remembered.  After making the decision to return home to live in Henry County I attended and completed my Bachelors of Science in Middle Grades Education from Clayton College and State University in Morrow, Georgia.  Finally, after one year of teaching I began and earned my Masters in Special Education from Georgia College and State University.

Professional Experience

I began teaching in 2000 at Hampton Elementary School.  I attended Hampton as a child, did my student teaching there, and then returned and taught there from 2000 – 2005.  During my time at Hampton I taught one year of third grade then four years in fifth.  I taught both with a partner and in a self-contained class where I taught all subjects.  In 2005 I moved to Crawford County and began teaching at CCES.  The first three years here I taught Special Education both as a resource and inclusion teacher.  I was then given the opportunity to become part of the fifth grade team as a Science and Social Studies teacher.  This is been my home ever since.  I enjoy the challenge fifth grades afford me as well as working with my team/family.

I live with my husband and daughter and have a stepson who is on his own now.  We enjoy dirt track racing, snorkeling/scuba diving, and riding ATVs.  I have may interest and enjoy traveling and seeing places I have never been before.  Since we have married my husband and I have built one house and renovated another so I have picked up many construction skills and knowledge that cannot be taught in school.  I am a firm believer that life is too short to not have fun and do your best in all that you do.  I try to pass this attitude on to my students.
